After an off year in 1918, the White Sox were once again American League Champions in 1919. Rookie Manager William "Kid" Gleason led the team to an 88-52 record.
April 23,1919 was opening day for the White Sox. They faced the St. Louis Browns in St. Louis and pounded out 21 hits, winning handily 13-4.
The White Sox played 13 doubleheaders in the shortened 140 game season. The Sox swept 6, split 5 and lost 2.
Season highlights included: Eddie Cicotte defeating the Athletics for the twelfth straight time on June 14th. Happy Felsch tied two Major League records June 23 (twelve chances in a nine-inning game) and August 14th (four assists in the outfield).
