ctober 7,1919: The Reds were only one win away from their first Championship title when the Series returned to Cincinnati for Game 6. 32,006 fans were on hand hoping to see the Reds take the Series.

Both starting pitchers for Game 6 were making their second World Series appearance. Game 3 winner Dickie Kerr faced off against Game 1 winner Dutch Ruether.

The Reds led 4-0 after 4 innings, but the White Sox fought back, scoring 1 run in the fifth and 3 in the sixth. The game remained 4-4 after 9 innings.

In the White Sox 10th, Buck Weaver doubled and Joe Jackson beat out a bunt. Chick Gandil then singled in Weaver and the White Sox won the game, 5-4.

In the Series, Dickie Kerr was 2-0. He pitched 19 innings, struck out 6, walked 3 and had a 1.42 ERA.

White Sox leftfielder Joe Jackson had this to say about Dickie Kerr's Series performace: "I got a mighty big kick out of the two games Dickie Kerr pitched and won for us. That was something."
