he Chicago White Sox were arguably the best team in baseball in 1919. After finishing the season in first place, the White Sox faced the Cincinnati Reds in the World Series. Heavily favored to defeat the Reds, the Sox lost in eight games. One year later, eight members of the team were accused of conspiring with gamblers to fix the Series.
